Personality[]
A loner. Marcus is sarcastic and scrappy. He’s attention-starved and desperate for affection, as his parents were killed by a woman who jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge to commit suicide. He blames Ronald Reagan for virtually all of his problems, and says that he’s going to kill him, to which he’s made fun of by Lex and Billy.

Relationships[]
Marcus and Saya have a complex on-and-off relationship that is partially romantic on both sides. They first meet when Master Lin develops an interest in recruiting Marcus at King's Dominion, so he tells his students to help persuade Marcus to enroll. Saya is the only student successful, and ultimately manages to convince Marcus to attend the school. Saya does so by posing herself as an ally of Marcus and tells him "he doesn't have to be alone." It is evident that Marcus is sexually attracted to Saya during their first meeting. Due to Saya's high-level observational skills, she picks up on this and use it to her advantage. After Marcus's initial refusal of Lin's offer, Saya follows him and stops him from committing suicide. Following this encounter, Marcus is prompted to start at King's Dominion. Saya cold-shoulders him once he enrolls at King's Dominion. As time passes, Marcus progresses at astounding rates in King's Dominion and Saya, recognizing his intelligence, believes that he could be a useful asset to her. She opens up to him, and slowly the two begin to establish a friendship. However, Saya grows to genuinely care for Marcus, and her feelings about him start to conflict. Saya is jealous of Marcus and Maria's relationship.
History[]
Early Life
Marcus immigrated from Nicaragua to the United States when he was five. He lost both of his parents to a woman who threw herself off Golden Gate Bridge, killing both of them on impact. The woman, Barbara, had recently been released from a mental institution because Ronald Reagan had cut funding for U.S. health facilities.
Sunset Boys Home
Marcus ended up at a foster home/sweatshop called Sunset Boys Home. He had a roommate named Chester who would abuse him, make him run chores, rape him, and bring him extra food. Marcus stole his copy of The Anarchist Cookbook and created a nail bomb that ruined half of Chester's face. Chester also gave Marcus his scars like the one on his face.
King’s Dominion
Marcus was homeless after he was accused of committing the Sunset Boys Home massacre. He was recruited by Master Lin, because he believed Marcus’s true potential as a killer deserved to be utilized, however Lin didn’t know that Marcus was partially innocent. He created the nail bomb that ruined Chester Wilson’s face, his roommate, and set the fire at the boy’s home, but Chester ultimately killed everyone else.
He was kidnapped by Maria, Willie, Saya, Billy and Lex, who brought him to King’s Dominion. Marcus didn't believe that he had a chance at anything good, telling Master Lin to eat his shit and leaving. He was found by Saya while contemplating suicide, but accepted Saya's offer to come back to King’s Dominion. She kisses him and tells him he doesn’t have to be alone. He gains a reputation at King’s Dominion as a "child killer.” He finds a doll with a knife in its forehead and a note saying "child killer" in his locker. Maria tells him that half the school is scared of him. Petra mentions that no newcomer has had this much attention for a long time.
Maria, Petra, Saya, Lex, Billy and Marcus take a trip to Las Vegas to kill Billy's father. Marcus takes seven tabs of acid, calling himself “the Acid King.” He begins hallucinating cartoons and speaking to himself for the duration of the trip. When they check into the hotel where Billy's father was living, Marcus is still high. Hearing Billy's screams for help as his father beat him, Marcus helps kill Billy’s father. During Marcus's acid trip, he was confronted by Chester, but he thought it was a hallucination. He pursued Maria, almost having sex with her but was interrupted when Chico tracked her down and barged in the door. He’s beaten and nearly killed by Chico until he’s saved by Maria, who slits his throat with her fan.
On the ride back to King’s Dominion, Marcus cuddles with Maria. Marcus is very unprepared for a relationship - he didn't know he had to get her a one-month anniversary gift, or that sex was included in a relationship. This caused Maria to spiral out of control, reacting emotionally when Marcus seemingly ignores her guilt and trauma. Maria attempted to murder Marcus with an arrow when she saw that he and Saya were about to kiss, knowing that Saya wouldn't let it happen. He mistook Maria for an assassin and chased her down. While Marcus is angry with her, Maria confesses that she was jealous of Saya. They proceed to have sex for the first time.
Marcus recruits his friends to help kill Chester and persuades Lex to go buy materials needed for a bomb. Willie backs out, saying he couldn’t kill for a cause but could die for one. He continues, telling Marcus that he has a hero complex and needs to realize he isn’t the hero he thinks he is. When preparing for the attack, Marcus and Saya find themselves alone as the others are busy. They go to a rave, and then Saya kisses him, and the two of them have sex, unbeknownst to Maria. Marcus wakes up, realizing that he’s three hours late to his opening shift at the comic book store the group decided to hide the explosives in. After hastily opening the store to a crowd of angry and swearing children, Marcus is repeatedly accosted by Mike, a child he promised to draw for if he got him a breakfast sandwich. After telling him to fuck off, he suffers a case of diarrhea in front of him. He takes off into the restroom before having the door opened on him while changing. Lex tells everyone the store is closed, the plan being set into motion. Saya is nowhere to be found. She was called in by Master Lin, but ultimately Saya chooses to help her friends. Marcus is especially relieved to see Saya, not knowing that Maria already figured out he cheated on her.
The group infiltrates Chester's home, each person assigned to a specific task. When they enter, Chester is nowhere to be seen. Marcus and Lex find several animals in the house. Lex is surprised to see that Marcus told the truth about Chester's sexual attraction to animals. A fight ensues after Lex was snared by a booby trap inside the house, but manages to escape. Marcus was then captured and taped up onto a sofa by Chester, forcing him to admit that he was the one who burned down Sunset Boys Home and his face should be printed in the newspapers. Marcus did not comply, proceeding to trick Chester saying that he can come to the academy with him, be his friend, and be loved. Chester takes the bait and Marcus hits him. Furious, Chester chases him down and beats him, shouting at Marcus for manipulating his emotions. Marcus let the dog that Chester abused loose, and watched as it maimed and killed him. Marcus found Chico's severed head after Chester's death. He escapes the house and sees Maria, where she exposes her knowledge of his infidelity and ends their relationship saying that he was free from her. They find the Soto Veto's waiting for them outside the house, and the Holy Ghost shoots and presumably kills Lex.
